SMD mounts individual LED chips onto the circuit board one by one, producing point-like light. It has lower cost, mature manufacturing processes, and is easy to repair, but it may appear grainy when viewed up close.
COB packages multiple LED chips directly onto the same substrate, producing surface light. It offers higher brightness, more uniform illumination, and less glare, making it more suitable for high-end and close-range lighting. However, its cost and repair difficulty are relatively higher.
